The redundant packets cause no problems for ace, except to eat up a 
little real-time since each packet received is processed by ace to see if 
a button is monitoring the status of that item. If so, then the 
button's appearance changes.  So, ace just runs the same code twice.  
Since this only happens when a user presses a button to change the 
state of an item, it's not a big deal.  I wouldn't worry about changing 
it if it'll end up being a kludge.  Let's wait and see if it poses any 
problems.
