Mark,

Are you saying that an event executed before beginning voicemail
playback which would change keyboard input to the serial port (in the
O/S) wouldn't work?  What I'm considering trying is having ECS reset
CTTY to COM1, speak messages, then CTTY CON to restore operations to
"normal" input devices.

I know that during voicemail playback started via "local phone", I can
press a key on the keyboard and have it (system) treat it just as if I
were pressing a key on the phone for the equivilent operation.
