Subject: From: Date: | phone answering programming question... Scott Reston Mon, 14 Sep 1998 09:35:30 -0500 |
over the last few weeks, i've seen a big increase in the number of
'out of area' hangups (those *wonderful* telemarketers!) i've been
getting. at first, i thought i'd get around the problem by not
letting out-of-area people record phone messages. this idea got nixed
the first time my wife tried to leave a message from the car phone.
oops.
my plan now is to make out-of-area people hit "1#" (1 then pound) to
leave a message. i've already got an event piping remote-phone keys
to a macro value. here's how i plan to do it... am i on the right
track?
1. when i've determined that they're an out-of-area, do a pick-up
with a phone-local item
2. play a recorded message letting them know to hit 1# via a
play-phone
3. hang up via a hang-up phone-local...
if they hit 1#, i've got a separate event that'll set a 'blank' (a
second of silence...) message to answer when the macro value is 1...
does that make sense? is there a better way to approach this?
