Subject: From: Date: | Alpha Cards Frank Herron Mon, 14 Sep 1998 11:06:05 -0400 |
Someone asked about Alpha Cards. I have been using them for awhile. Mark
recommends you stay away from the X10 Card. I have the Motherboard and the
Adapter card which plugs into the PC, also recommended by Mark, over the Serial
port connection. You can buy blank cards from Alpha and I have hand built my
own, getting 8 Digital INs and 8 Relay outs on one card. I use Quad
Opto-isolators to conserve space ( Aplha uses eight 4n26s) and also a single IC
that can drive eight relays, which are not located on the card. They seem very
responsive.
The Cm-11A also works well, MUCH better than my Applied Digital Micro Wonder.
I used to miss inbound X10 signals. Now with Cm-11A ECS hears everything!!
