Subject: From: Date: | SUCCESS!!! Bill Walters Sun, 04 Oct 1998 16:08:24 -0500 |
All,
You've listened to my "whining" about not being able to do any "work"
with telephone messages while ECSD/ECST was playing them back via
speaker. I tried just about everything or so I thought.
Last night, I found a small file, KBFAKE.EXE in the Simtel archives. It
provides the capability of capturing serial input and stuffing it into
the keyboard buffer. It's a TSR and loads handily in upper memory.
IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM!!!!
I -now- can have my touchscreen funtion fully during message playback
to Skip, Rewind, Delete, Keep New, any message that is playing.
The "ONLY" downside is that the serial port could potentially "dual"
with the console keyboard, so I'll have to dig out an old TSR management
utility (I remember using it before) which manages to Load/Unload TSR's
fairly transparently. That way, when I want to work on the console
keyboard upstairs in the HA Office (so my wife calls it) I won't run the
risk of conflics from the touchscreen in the kitchen.
If anyone else is interested, the file contained the source code
(written in C) as well as the executable. The executable file requires
the use of COM1 at 9600 baud (standard 8 bit, no parity, 1 stop bit).
I'll be happy to e-mail the ZIP file (it's about 10K) to anyone who
wants it.
Mark - perhaps this might serve as a "base" for integration into ECS
once you get the big things done - I'm sure I'm not the only person
around that wants full functionality without having to deal with a
keyboard all the time.
