Subject: From: Date: | RE: [ECS] HomeVision with ECSW Mark Sekelsky Sun, 21 Jun 1998 09:30:59 -0500 |
Mark,
I understand how back-up states and initial states work, I was trying to
show that the problem I'm having is not due to any initial state setting or
not having the back-up state saved. I did a little more playing around and
this is what I have found:
I created a small event that would log a line to the log whenever it saw my
"Somebody's home" item as being off. This item has its back-up state as YES
and an initial state of ON. I made sure that the current state of this item
was ON and shut down ECSW. When I restart ECSW (using HomeVision as my PLC
device) ECSW sees this item as being OFF (as verified by the line being
written to the log) and then properly sets the item to ON. I performed this
same "test" using the micro redac as my PLC device. The item was never seen
as being OFF .
So for whatever reason when HomeVision is used as the PLC device it seems
that ECSW wants to set everything to OFF and then set everything to its
initial or saved back-up state. It takes about a minute and a half for this
to happen. Eventually everything ends up in its correct state. It's just
annoying as all get out to go through that ninety-second transition. For
example, if somebody is watching TV, the TV ends up being shut off because
ECSW sees that "Somebody's home" is off so that there is no reason for the
TV to be on. The wife and kids aren't too happy about that <G>.

If BACKUP is YES, the INITIAL STATE only applies the 1st time
the item is created. Thereafter, the backup state is used.
