Carl,

Out-of-area could be very "legitimate." It means that they have their
number blocked, are using a provider that doesn't support CID or I would
guess there could be something on your providers end. The only two numbers
that I personally have that are Out-of-area but I know who they are are my
Mom in Red Wing MN and a friend of my wife's in Mpls. MN. Both use some
obscure provider for long distance.

When I first started my phone event I found that whopping *60%* of all calls
were from out-of area. That number has now come down but it still runs a
good 40% of all my calls. If you take a look at my event (if you still have
the .cfg file) you can see how I handle any call that is Private or
out-of-area.

Mark S,

Sorry, I mean they are reading "Out of Area". What does that mean
exactly?
What "area" does that refer to. Ihad the phone company do some test
calls
from a few other area codes that did read correctly. Something odd here.
I suppose it's possible, although I don't know for sure, that everyone
who's
called has had their number blocked.
I made a rather fun discovery with CID( for me anyway) that has the
callers name
incorporated into the answer greeting. Depending on the time of day it
will answer,
Good morning Mr. Jones, etc, etc, leave a message. Upon hearing
this,when
some friends have called, suddenly my interest in HA isn't so wierd
anymore. Now
they want to know how to set up a system. Go figure.

Thanks,

Carl
