Subject: From: Date: | RE: [ECS] RingGenerator [Was RE: CID] Martin Terry Tue, 13 Oct 1998 08:56:57 -0700 |
Thanks Ingo. I am currently blocking the ring from the phone company
with ECS, until CID info is processed. The problem with this particular
event is that ECS answers the phone (without me hearing a ring), gives a
message that the unknown caller must identify themselves by entering a
phone number, then checks the number and decides to take a message or
send the call through - however, at this point the phone company is out
of the loop, the phone has been answered and off hook for a good 30
seconds. That's why it would be nice if ECS could put the caller on
"hold", ring the phone, then connect everything when someone picks up
the phone in the house.
I'm currently just making a voice announcement (as I do with normal
calls, as if CID info was received) then playing a wav "phone ring".
I also have to modify the event to deal with the circumstance that noone
answers the phone after ECS has blessed the call. This event is still
in it's infancy.
