Subject: From: Date: | MP3 ripping [Was: Controlling external apps from ECS] Ingo Dean Sun, 18 Oct 1998 15:06:26 -0400 |
I'm using Audiograbber <http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/> to rip from
a Plextor drive, and using Plugger+
<http://members.tripod.com/~mp3nkoder/> to do the WAVE->MP3 encoding.
Audiograbber is the most reliable ripper I was able to find. And when
it does have a problem ripping a track, it at least shows you, so that
you don't embarrassingly find out weeks later when you're showing
someone your MP3 collection.
I used to use BladeEnc for the compressing, but Plugger+ is so much
faster. I refuse to use any Xing product, since they gain their speed
by cutting all the higher frequencies out totally (plus, they want $$).
And the Plextor drive is really the only way to go. I tried 5 other
drives (2 @ home, 3 @ work), but none came close to Plextor's DAE
ability.
