Subject: From: Date: | 4.0 ALPHA upload Mark Gilmore Wed, 21 Oct 1998 13:56:47 -0700 |
Hello all,
I have emerged from the dungeon with ECS 4.0 ready for
ALPHA (very preliminary) testing. I will be busy with
family responsibilities for the next few days, and so
thought this would be a good time to let you play
around with it.
All executables are ABOUT to be uploaded to BETA\ECS.ZIP
(this msg is in README.TXT).
I need testing performed on the following:
Create/Mod/Del of Groups/Items/Events in the OLD user-interface
Create/Mod/Del of Groups/Items in the NEW user-interface
Regardless of the selected user-interface, when you select APPLY
("ACCEPT"), a new working cfg (W0.CFG) will be created. When you
select SAVE, it is copied to ECS.CFG. I would suggest that you use
the file-compare utility to validate changes: For example, the
command "FC ECS.CFG W0.CFG > D.TMP" would write list differences
in D.TMP.
All versions have eliminated the need for maximum counts
(for Items, Text-Lines, etc). The appropriate allocations
are now determined/expanded/contracted dynamically.
OLD user-ifc notes:
To test with OLD user-interface, you MUST enter "SET ECS_WUI=0".
The DOS versions may be a bit big - I may still need to work a
bit on the overlays to get it back to its original size.
NEW user-ifc notes:
The special function keys (RECORD, PLAYBACK, LEARN, etc) in the Item
screens (NEW user-ifc) are NOT yet functional (though they should be
displayed properly).
The Message & Event screens (NEW user-ifc) are NOT yet functional
(though you may select them).
Is "APPLY" more appropriate than "ACCEPT" ???
Any other suggestions ?
The Group screen supports the display of a .BMP background image.
Does anyone have a good image which might serve as a good default.
If it's on paper, we could scan it.
The Item/State/Icon windows in the Group screen may be moved,
sized, etc. To move one, right click in the window, move it to
desired location, and release. Positions/sizes are preserved
IF the Group is saved.
Note that with a background, you could create Groups which
represent floorplans.
You could also "stretch" windows to form lines, boxes, etc.
Enjoy!
