ECS4.0 problems and suggestions

Hi Mark!

Problems:

I tried the newest Beta4.0, and am still having the following problems:

ECS, running in old interface, still has all COMSTAT and DDE errors
overlaying on all screens, even though I have <cntrl-x> set to "0". I've
reported this several times, and have not heard back from you on it, so I
thought I'd bug you again.

After running ECS, with either interface, for a few minutes, all of my
security-sensor-a items become "not responding".

ECS, under the new interface, will crash shortly thereafter with a COMSTAT
error (similar to the error I sent you earlier today). Perhaps these issues
are related? ECS, under the old interface, doesn't seem to have a problem
with these errors, (except that they display on top of the screens).

Hitting <cntrl K> while waiting for VR to start doesn't abort the wait.

When I start ECS, in either new or old interface, event processing is REALLY
slow (about 1 pass per second) until I go into any event and accept (or
submit) that event. Event processing then returns to normal speeds.

Suggestions:

Can you use a mono-spaced font (like courier) in the event window? It would
make the operators and states line up, which would make things a bit easier
to read.

Also, do you have plans to allow for resizing the screens? It would be nice
if we could drag the group screen out bigger so we could display more items.

Selecting an item from a drop-down list by typing a few characters doesn't
quite work as I would expect. If I go to a field, and type a few
characters, and click on the drop down list, my intended target name is
selected. What I would expect is this: I type a few characters, ECS
auto-fills in the rest of the item, and I can either hit return to accept or
use the up or down arrow (or <cntrl-up arrow>/<cntrl-down arrow>) to move
through the list.

Cheers!
