RE: [ECS] error 0068

Mark,

I have two buttons upstairs on an in-wall controller. One is to play all
phone messages and the other is to play all NEW phone messages. In ECS I
have defined two items as Phone: Play All and Phone: Play New. These are
"appliance" type items (ex. they are L4 and L5). The beginning of my event
for playing messages looks like this:

1 If Phone:Play All Is Off
2 And Phone:Play New Is Off
3 Then ECS:Event exit Set True

If I press the button associated with "Phone: Play All" to "ON" I receive
the error "error 0068 (Play messages line 2). If I press the button
associated with "Phone: Play New" to "ON" everything works fine.

Now there is another problem as well. I have ECS let us know every 5
minutes if we have a new message that has not been listened to. I received
a call from a rather unhappy wife who had listened to this message every 5
minutes for several hours. She had played the message several times but
could not get ECS to set the number of new messages from 1 to 0. In other
words ECS saw the message as "unplayed" even once it was played. She told
me that she had a 0068 error but didn't notate where it came from. (my over
the phone fix was to walk her through getting ECS 3.4 running so I couldn't
check to see where the 0068 error was occurring). Also she could not delete
the message from the log. She said there was no message as to why (i.e. in
the current version ECS will tell you the message hasn't been played).

these item types are. can't it be re-created without all this
"indirection" ?
