RE: [ECS] ver 4 status?

Wayne...

I'm not usually one to stick my nose in where it probably doesn't belong,
but since you've chosen to make a public issue out of this, I feel compelled
to respond.

1) Yes, you and Reddy paid for Mark to add HAI support. Having been through
these things with Mark, I'm sure he didn't promise you a specific time when
it would be done.

2) Given the time he put into it, your $300 is really not adequate
compensation for Mark's time, so a little patience is warranted here.

3) Mark has a clear history here of giving all of us more input and support
than a software developer normally would. Even allowing us to receive
customized functionality for such extremely reasonable rates is really
unusual. This kind of exchange is only going to dissuade him form this
practice.

4) Mark has openly admitted that his business is struggling, and that its
survival depends on releasing 4.0, which is what he is putting forth all of
his energy into. And, let's not forget that his 16 hours a day will make
ECS better, which benefits all of us extremely.

5) Mark has asked for your patience until he can get this new version done.
He has also asked for your help to identify the problems you are having with
ECST4.0 - so he can fix them for you. Once he has done so, you will have
your HAI support and a better version of ECST.

6) Mark is a small businessman trying to make it in a world of conglomerates
who don't give a damn about us, the end user. He needs all of our support,
patience, and feedback. Not just so he can get ECS 4.0 released, but
because he is trying to survive! And, we need him to survive! Perhaps,
rather that worrying about HAI support, you should be concerned where Mark
will be able to continue to develop ECS at all.

In short, Wayne, I think you need to chill a bit. Above all else, I think
this should not be a forum for you to vent about this issue.

I'll get off my soapbox now - sorry everyone!

Cheers!

I too have spent over 80 hours of MY time on beta testing the HAI stuff and
trying to get a working version of ECST (3.4 or 4.0).
Why don't Reddy & I just give up on getting the HAI working with ECST v3.4,
you refund our money (which was only $300 not $400), and I will go away
until 4.0 is released (or later).

FYI, because yesterday you said "ecst/ecsd will be included in tonight's
upload." I just downloaded another 1.4 meg, only to find the 11/5 versions
are still in place. I am encountering the "matching parameters" problem
that I thought was fixed on 11/5. That prevents ECST v4 from booting.
