I am using the Byterunner PCI to 8 serial ports. ECS seems to do fine with
it. My CM11A is on COM12.

I am using a Dell v333c with the sound interface built into the motherboard
( Yamaha DS-XG) . ECS works fine with that.

I tried the US Robotics WinModem v.90 but it **doesn't** work. I didn't
expect it to, but it was free and work trying.

I hope that I can find an external modem that won't take up a slot.

There is nothing in the PCI world like Bigmouth.

BTW, I don't have many PCI slots either. IMHO, we ought to be looking at USB
devices, which support 127 peripherals at once. Requires no slots or even
opening up the computer. I am getting a Microsoft USB mouse, since I deleted
my PS/2 port to free up an IRQ for the Byterunner.

I **hope** that
