Subject: From: Date: | Problem with caller-id and ECS 4.0 Mark Sekelsky Wed, 11 Nov 1998 19:53:28 -0600 |
Mark,
I have your favorite kind of problem: One that can't readily be replicated
<g>. I keep a listing of known callers in a file called callerid.txt. When
a call comes in ECS checks this file to see if the number calling is one
that I have setup in callerid.txt. Example:
Number State Name
630-555-1212 1000 Mark Gilmore
708-555-1212 1001 Michael David
If ECS identifies that the number is 630-555-1212 (state 1000) then it
should announce:
Answer the phone it's "Mark Gilmore" calling. If Carl Keyes calls , who is
not setup in the system (sorry Carl) ECS would announce:
Phone call from "Keyes, Carl"
What is happening is that 50% of the time (3 of the last 6 calls from people
setup in callerid.txt) ECS has NOT correctly identified that the number
calling should be "known." In other words if you call me instead of "Answer
the phone it's Mark Gilmore calling" I will hear "Phone call from Gilmore,
Mark."
As I said I cannot replicate this but appears to happen with 50% frequency.
I did NOT have this problem prior to the version I am running now (dated
11/10). Due to the old error 0068 I never ran 4.0 for very long but I did
run it long enough to get calls from several known callers.
