A few years back there was a company called Performance Technology that made
a very good networking product called POWERlan, among many other products.
Bay Networks bought them out to get one of their products ('Internet in a
box'). The rest of their products they have dropped support on. However they
have decided to give these products away for FREE. These are the last full
release version of PT's products. You can find them at www.perftech.com
I have personally set POWERlan up with over 50 users and had very little
trouble.
