Davis Weather Monitor II and Event Processing Problems

I am in the process of upgrading from ECS 3.2 to ECSW 3.4 . This also
includes an upgrade of my computer hardware as well. Since I have built a new
computer it is very easy to switch between the two for various verification
and comparison tests. Althought I feel I have come a long way, two problems I
just can't seem to get sorted out. The first of which is a communication
problem with the Davis Weather Station. ECSW indicates that "Weather Interface
not responding on comX". Since I can move the Davis equipment back to my
original system I know it can function normally. Either of the Two new com
ports work fine with PLC-Interface-2B/2C or IR -Interface-2B so I'm fairly
sure they can function normally. The Davis WeatherLink has two baud rate
settings. They are 1200/2400 bps. The other port settings are the standard
8/N/1/Xon. Although I have tried both settings, 2400 is the setting I have
used since the original installation. The only thing I can think of is a
possible baud rate change on the newer Weather Link equipment (my equipment
dates back to the early 90's) and a possible change in ECS since 3.2 was
released although I can't find it documented anywhere. More than likely I'm
missing something here. Any Ideas?
My second problem concerns a particular series of Event statements. It
seems that if I attempt to issue an IR Send command just before a Speak Text
command, the IR send is suspended until after the spoken text has completed
(in this case to switch an audio receiver from AM/FM, CD or TAPE mode to "AUX"
so that a TTS message can be issued). ECS notes which type of music and in the
case of AM/FM, which station was being listened to as well as which rooms
require speaker selection so that audio is reinstated correctly after the TTS
message. Any suggestions? Again this works fine under 3.2 .

Thanks, Larry Coleman
