Subject: From: Date: | RE: [ECS] micro-redac and relays Mark Sekelsky Thu, 24 Dec 1998 14:52:43 -0600 |
Doug,
The outlet on the back of the receiver is a regular 110 that is on when the
receiver is on, off when off. I plan on plugging a homemade relay *into*
that outlet. A friend of mine that is an electrician made the relay. The
relay sits in a gang box and is wired to be plugged in and then run to the
redac. Unfortunately he is not familiar with the redac.
The relay itself has the following stamped on it:
120 v 50/60 Hz
Industrial rating
10A,1/4HP; 120 VAC
6 2/3A, 1/3HP; 250 VAC
Appliance Rating
10 A 250 VAC

The first thing to be sure of is what the relay on the back of your
receiver really is.
It may be
1. a 110 volt switched outlet - that is an outlet that you can plug another
component into which will be
switched on/off when the receiver is turned on off.
2. a true dry contact closure (cool never seen one)
3. a compulink as on JVC etc.
Lets make sure what you have and then we can decide how to hook up to it

Subject: [ECS] micro-redac and relays
I want to use a relay-c item but don't kow how to do this. Here's what I
want to do: I want to be able to tell whether or not my receiver is on. I
have a relay that I can plug into the power outlet on the back of the
receiver. When the relay is open/closed I will know that the receiver is
off/on.
I assume that I want to run the wires from that relay (plugged into the back
of the receiver) to the relay posts on the micro-redac. The redac has two
rows of 8 posts each, numbered from 0 - 8. What do I connect to? Please be
gentle with me as I am a relay neophyte <g>.
Hapy Holidays to al.
