Ignore the vsn displayed in ECST - I just haven't been keeping them up
to date.
That contained in ECS.HTM is what counts.

I'll need a dbg.tmp and cpt.tmp with debug=1

I don't know how this could be happing unless ECS is run on C:
or you have C: defined as a RAM drive in SETTINGS.EXE.
