I don't think I have manually shelled out of ECST in a year or more. My
ECS machine is on a network so I do my snooping and log file processing over
the network. I have network shares set up to the hard disk and the ram
disk, so I can snoop pretty good without disrupting anything. And I never
change files that ECS might be changing, I copy them first.
Even if I was getting a 'bogus' .cfg file, why would its color be
different? I haven't changed my colors in YEARS. Granted some items that
have gotten hosed change quite often, so the 'bogus' file could have
anything in it, but not my colors.
