Don, My original problem was my sound card, and what I did was took all cards out and cleared all the drivers and started over with the sound card only. I did have a heck of the time with my modem too. I would try pulling the cards and installing them one at a time. For your modem, is Windows seeing it. If not is most likely the irq/memmory config on the card itself. I installed my sound card and modem on an old 60 Mhz pentium. I don't know why but I have 3 com ports enabled but only two really work with hardware. I have noticed that the order in which you install hardware can also affect the way the computer installs other hardware. Don't know if this helps much.
