Bill,
I'll get together some code snippets for you soon.
I bought the napco panel and the GEM-AUTOMATION option you buy comes with
some minimal documentation. I have the Omni Pro on loan from HAI and I
downlaoded everything I needed from their web site. I just can't
remember if the serial link protocol doc's were on their web site or if I
got those e-mailed to me. In either case, they are very well written and
easily obtained.
The checksums are usually in hex and may involve more than just adding
the bytes up, I can't remember for sure. I'll see what I can find to
send your way.
