The street is about 30-40 feet from my front door. Yes the
sensor is outdoors, it is protected from the weather by
being well up beneath the eaves. it is mounted above a
window next to the door and is angled down and toward the
left (the sidewalk approaches from the side). Thanks to
everyone who offered suggestions for masking. I will try
some of them out tonight if I have time.

This is a very nice detector. It is wireless and transmits
an RF signal. I don't know how long the batteries will
last yet, but X10 claims battery life is about 1 year.
BTW, they are giving them away for free right now with any
item purchased. check it out...

I am also still looking for an email list for general home
automation discussion. I haven't seen any replies
concerning this, so is it reasonable to assume that no one
else here knows of one either?
Thanks,
Bill
