Mark,
Addressing last nights message first:
Using ECST 3.4.021 in 486-100; previously I was using a 10 second (so I
though) index of system speed, the old MIPS meter event, as discussed in
the ECS Archives. However, last night I changed it over to your
"Passes/Second" event, as listed in ECS.CFG, Event:Time. It is showing
35 passes/second, WITH the monitoring of the PD-40 digital inputs. So,
I'm not particularly worried about anything anymore regarding the
"speed" of my event pass.
The HD light is "blinking" about once per second, during system idle
time. I don't know why and was wondering if this is related to the
monitoring of the PD-40 digital inputs. Again, I have only noticed this
when I started using the PD-40 digital inputs. I will "disconnect" the
dig-in's and see what happens.
An un-related question: Is a 16 bit sound card required for TTS
operation? I've tried installing MSSpeechSDK4.0 in my ECS computer
(upstairs, normally operates in MS-DOS, but I'm just "playing" today,
looking toward converting it to ECS 4.0 and it won't initalize TTS. The
sound card installed is an OLD 8-bit, mono, soundblaster (yep, ancient
relic!) and it's the only difference I can figure for why it won't
work. Is this true?
