If you use the VIVE caller ID unit, it has hardware to detect line off-hook
state.

All that aside, it would STILL be nice to know when a phone has been
"Picked UP" and "Hung-Up", regardless of what phone interface you are
using.
Anyone with ideas? Even external circuits which could be monitored by
digital I/O?
