I assume it starts working on its own, I definitely don't do anything to the
CID interface. I have no idea what causes it, I cannot force it to happen.
I have a hunch, but haven't been able to prove it yet, that the state of the
interface DOES change, but for some reason doesn't announce. Since I
haven't been able to prove this by eyesight or with a log, my hunch may be
wrong.
I do OCCASIONALLY (rarely) get a message recorded in my log with caller id
info (ie 'Phone Message #...'), but there is NOT the normal entry just
previous to it with the plain caller id info (ie 'Call from ...'). This
kinda confirms my hunch, but this has happened for years. The lack of
announcement seems to be exclusive or at lest MUCH more obvious with v4.
After I posted this original note, I found that the CID state value is
working as documented for a CID file. This seems to assume one CID file
that doesn't change very often. I have about 7 files, grouped by TYPE of
call/caller. I just add new numbers to the bottom of one of the files. If
I had all these in one file, everytime I added a name in the middle of the
list, I would have to adjust all CID based events because the state numbers
would change from that point down. Is there any solution other than
creating a zillion individual CID items and give up on CID files? Or am I
missing a trick here?
Thanks,
Wayne
