Mark,

Yes, rechecked Bits/Sample as being "4".  

I'm talking about an "inbound" call to the house, where the caller gets
the voicemail and leaves a message.  The message they leave, when played
on my speakers, is awful and not intelligable.

Perhaps it's due to my old 8-bit soundblaster (mono) card.  Have a 16-bt
card (spare) and will replace that today, just in case.

And.... I'll re-check all my settings!
