RE: [ECS] Phone-Interface-C & Voice Mail

Bill & Mark,

I think you will see a big difference with the 16 bit sound card. I think I
have probably played with ECS (Win) and phones about as long as anybody. I
have found no modem that comes close to the Bigmouth in terms of sound
quality. The best sound (modem wise) is from the Zoom ComStar 33.6 with a
16 bit card. Unfortunately that modem caused me (and others problems).
With an 8 bit card that modem doesn't sound as good. The sound with the
Zoom 14.4 is tolerable on my system with a 16 bit card. I would guess that
if one had never had a Bigmouth the sound with the Zoom and a 16 bit card
wouldn't seem *too* bad. With an 8 bit card it was pretty rough, but on my
system at least, still decipherable.

Mark, I have nowhere near the level of technical expertise of you or anyone
else in this group but I think that finding a way to get a quality windows
based phone card to work with ECS would be a HUGE home run for future
business.

Mark,

Yes, rechecked Bits/Sample as being "4".

I'm talking about an "inbound" call to the house, where the caller gets
the voicemail and leaves a message. The message they leave, when played
on my speakers, is awful and not intelligable.

Perhaps it's due to my old 8-bit soundblaster (mono) card. Have a 16-bt
card (spare) and will replace that today, just in case.

And.... I'll re-check all my settings!
