I think ECS is good and Windows-based.
But, for sure, it's not Windows-based the same way software using MFC
are. And they're the standard in software, now.
I believe there's almost the same difference between Winamp (wonderful
piece of SW for MP3) and a standard Word/Excel app. That one is
wonderful, but not all Windows-standard, and people may find it hard to
use. (This example works so so, as Winamp is so easy to use that anybody
can, anyway!)
As for me, I wouldn't spend much time around that matter. I prefer going
deep into hardware/software concerns, which are far more interesting
than look and feel, and I'm happy if people say my work can do what
other can't... then, nobody's perfect!
That's just my opinion and I express it in my home automation app: the
interface is poor, but things can be done as easily as possible... the
use of the PC is very limited.
