Subject: From: Date: | Installing new Panasonic - any problems ? Reddy Biggs Sat, 18 Jul 1998 12:16:58 -0500 |
Hello everybody,
I am about to install a new hybrid PBX. Our old Panasonic PBX with 'only' 16
extensions isn't enough now that all 4 of our kids are able to use the
phone, the internet, and we are adding an addition to the house. I am
actually using 20 sites since Panasonic allows a single line phone to
"share" a PBX slot, but it limits our availability. The older kids will be
getting phones with the XDP port so they can use their modems without having
an extra extension, and we will have the caller id display on all the LCD
phones.
If anybody has previously installed a Panasonic Digital PBX 1232, please let
me know what pitfalls to look out for. I expect I will have to rewrite my
program to convert the SMDR data for ECS, although I haven't checked that
out yet.
The programming manual makes it look very much like the analog system, but I
had the analog system pretty well tricked out with doorphones, door openers,
music on hold and such. I am really dreading going back in to repunch all my
wiring blocks again, since the analog model uses RJ11's and the digital uses
those big Amphenol 50 wire jacks.
BTW, if anybody wants a cheap used, 5 1/2 year old Panasonic 816 with
doorphone and door opener adapters, with one of the 16 extension slots not
working, please EMail !
Reddy
