IR Connecting Block Questions

I need help with a few basics on IR.

This is what I want to do with the HomeVision. The HV unit is in my wiring
closet and I plan on using an emitter from an amplified connecting block to
provide IR input to the HV.

1. I want to send the HV output directly into a Xantech or Buffalo
connecting block as per the application notes. Any problems sending the
signal back to the HV through the emitter?

2. I am running CAT5 to carry the +12volts GND and Signal to remote
locations in the house.

3. At these remote locations I want "Something" that I can plug a IR
receiver and emitters into (The CB12?) as well as get the power from the
CAT5 line. This would allow every station to talk to every other station,
correct?

I read in the Xantech notes that if you use the amplified connecting block
and connect a CB12 up to it (with a IR receiver and emitters both) that the
emitters connected to the amplified connecting block will not work. Why?
What would be the best system for my application.

Essentially, I want all stations to be able to send and receive signals on
the same signal line. This way HV sees all IR signals.

Also, by plugging the HV into the amplified connecting block is there any
problem if a signal comes from another source. Will this damage the HV?

Any other solutions would be very helpful. I have never set up IR before
and get a bit confused when deciphering the specs.

Thanks in advance

Kevin
