Mark,

I currently have a weather station (similar in function to the Davis units') called
the Ultimeter 2000 from Peet Brothers. It is a very high-quality unit, and has an RS-232
output.

The data is always formatted the same EG, 19990106/1605/180/3/65/61/3006 would be Jan
06 1999/4:05 PM/wind from due south - 180 degrees/wind at 3 MPH/outside temp is 65 degrees/wind
chill is 61 degrees/barometric pressure is 30.06.

The unit can output the data three different ways, however:

1. Current conditions are reported, as shown above, continuously. (Continuous, streaming
data)

2. Current conditions are reported at regular, preset intervals.

3. Current conditions are reported, but only when the unit is "polled" (IE ECS would
"ask" for the current conditions.)

I was wondering how (if?) ECS could be set up to handle the incoming data.

Regards,

Jeff

Jeff, The 3 models by Davis listed in ECS.HTM are all
ECS currently supports. The data format they use is
as convoluted as any I have seen :-). Why do you ask ?

If not, can anyone explain what type of data (IE RS232) and the format (IE date/time/wind
speed/temp/pressure) that the Davis unit uses?
