Upgrade report
Ingo Dean (At Home)

Well, I finally upgraded to the 4.0 version (4.0.017).

I did have to set SET ADPCM_REV=0 before the sound got better. I use a Zoom
V.34X+ Model 2835 external modem. But after I did that, it sounded MUCH,
MUCH better. Thanks, Mark!

TTS->Wave is much better too, but suffers from stuttering. I have a RAM
drive, but that didn't help much.

Also, my settings.exe (10-02-98) doesn't work anymore - I get a Field
Overflow error. There didn't seem to be a new one in the ECSupd.zip file -
has it been renamed in 4.0?

As for the DOS look & feel, they're right, it's there. The biggest thing is
that windows don't resize, and when you maximize them it gives you unused
space. Definitely a DOS feel. It could also use standard Windows menus.
But it's nice being able to edit Items and Events at the same time in
seperate windows.

Last thing, this version seems to really suck all my CPU bandwidth up. In
3.4 I could still run Outlook or IE and get good response, but now I type
about 6-10 characters ahead of Outlook when ECS is running on a Pentium
200MMX. But I get about 60 passes/second...

I'll send you my upgrade fee this week. The current improvements are
definitely worth it, and I look forward to a more true Windows feel.
