I hadn't noticed it until now, but I can confirm the behavior with
DIFFERENT hardware! I have an old International Micropower (?) caller ID
unit that I have been using for years. I recently added a stand-alone
display unit when we added call-waiting with caller ID to our service. That
unit will display some 'out-of-area' calls with a number and some without a
number. ECS *NEVER* shows the number with an out-of-area call, my log shows
an 'O' in place of the number. As I recall this item was created per Marks
suggestion as a way to assign a state to out-of-area calls, therefore
enabling other events to handle the call as a special case. This scheme was
probably devised before CID with name was available.
I *suspect* that ECS must match the incoming CID name to my CID
out-of-area item and ASSIGN the '0' in place of the number.
Mark, can you confirm my theory? Can anything be done with out-of-area
(and possibly PRIVATE) calls to allow the number to come thru?
c'ay,
Wayne
