Subject: From: Date: | Fwd:[ECS] Vive Caller ID error ? DAVID.A.KINDRED.cpmx.saic.com Sun, 26 Jul 98 14:17:18 -0500 |
Hi, Reddy.
I'm using the Zoom modem to grab my Caller-ID information, and I've been
experiencing the same problem for about two years. Maddening, isn't it?
In our area, cell phone telephone numbers are transmitted, but the name
information is sent as out-of-area. A lot of out-of-state calls are transmitted
the same way. For the longest time, I thought the Caller-ID info wasn't being
sent, but then I got one of those Caller-ID TV devices and was proven wrong. All
this time, ECS has been ignoring the phone number information when the name
portion of the data stream was reported as out-of-area.
Since we're both experiencing the same problem with different devices, it sounds
as if Mark needs to intervene? How 'bout it, Mark?

Subject: [ECS] Vive Caller ID error ?

Hello everybody,
I have been using the Vive Caller ID unit attached to my ECS machine for a
couple years, with no complaints.
When somebody has called from out of state, it would simply say "Out-of-area
number" on ECS. I assumed that the number was blocked somewhere along the line.
As you know, I just installed a new Panasonic PBX with Caller ID also.
However the Panasonic is reporting numbers for all those "Out-of-area
numbers" !!! And they are correct numbers !! For the same calls !!
So what gives ? Why is the Vive giving me bad info, and the Panasonic able
to properly detect the number?
Anybody else noticed this behavior?
Reddy
