RE: [ECS] Caller ID

As I understand things ECS is only checking the number and NOT the name.
Hence The "O" coming through as the name wouldn't cause ECS any trouble.
It sounds like I may have the odd system here as I have used the Vive, Zoom
Modem and a caller-ID device from Ameritech and have NEVER had a number come
through for an out-of-area or ever have a discrepancy between the Ameritech
unit and what I was using with ECS at the time.

It sounds like we all have the same problem... The Bell's Caller ID is
reporting a number in the number section, but with an "O" in the name
section to designate an out of area number.

Thus ECS is getting confused by the ambiguous information and reporting just
"Out of Area" when it could easily report the actual number.

Mark, could ECS check BOTH for name and number ? Say if the name is "O"
then still look at the number to evaluate whether or not it is a phone
number, rather than just reporting nothing at all.

I'll be glad to call Wayne for a test,,,, I bit on one of those spam 8.9
cents/minute deals ,so I can spend 8.9 cents on the problem !
