I'm very interesred also. I looked up the Byte Runner boards and found the
following at their site:
The following cards only require 1 IRQ each. The cards have the option of
16550 or 16750
UART chips. Settable to COM1-COM99. Settable clock frequency to support
fast data
transfer rates (up to 921,800 bps). Card comes with an octopus cable
which plugs on the
back of the card and fans out to 8 DB25 serial connector cables (the
cables are
approximately 3 feet long. If you need them to be longer, you can plug
25-pin male to 25-pin
female serial cables on the cables coming off the octopus to extend the
length. We sell these
cables also.) 32-bit PCI-bus. Plug & Play. Card designed for use with
DOS, Windows 95,
98 & NT 4.0. Drivers for these operating systems are included.
Price is $179 each or $139 each for 3 min

Subject: [ECS] Multiport one more time
I have read most of the messages posted to the list about multi-port serial
cards. My question is. Do some of the cards support Single IRQ without
request and data buffering and other with buffering for the afore mentioned
or are they all basically the same. I see posting saying Byterunner will
not
share IRQ's with ECS and others saying it will. Reference to Applied
Digital etc.
I am running a Pent 200 I can go PCI or ISA. (prefer PCI). At this point
price is not as much of an option as performance. I have additional
equipment on the way which will mandate that I use a multi port serial port
that supports using one interrupt. Got a Buddy in the same shape. We will
sponsor (do the front money) a group purchase if we find the right
product
and we can move quickly (48 hours).
