Uh David... I think living with 5 girls, who rotate out for a new set every couple of months, deserves a bit more explanation... =8-) Cheers! Yes I know: poor Dave. Anyway the girls change every couple months. Yes, it gets even better. But it becomes a nuisance to update the CID file all the time. So I got to thinking about ways to allow them to do the work for me. I think USER input could have many uses. Anyway I thought it would make for a challenging and interesting event. Shall we have a competition for best usage and code ? I plan three implementations of the event. One from an X-10 Maxi-pad, one from one of those little Genovation 2-line LCD keypads and the other on the Panasonic PBX/Bigmouth combo where I am going to try to pull it off as a local phone-macro. Normally I use a single CID file. A separate file for each user may be best. A text item that would automatically be appended to the number after entry and the complete string would be appended to the users CID file with a DOS command. Example Dialog as follows: ECS: CALL ID EDITOR ECS: Enter Number and press # User: 8756465# ECS: Enter USER NUMBER and press # User: 2# ECS: 8756465 added to USER 2 CID List The actual CID file would look like this: USER 2 CID List 3331212 2 Jasmin's Friend 8756465 2 Jasmine's Friend Notice the state for all of the numbers in USER 2's (Jasmine's) file can be the same. The same state number allows easier filtering for personalized Phone-Box User 2's outgoing message based on CID. Inputting the hyphen - in the xxx-xxx-xxxx or adding a persons name to the number could be ugly unless there was really good voice prompting or keypad overlays. I guess a touchscreen could make this much more interesting.
