Event programming question

Mark (or anybody else that can answer this)-

I'm a little fuzzy about the T(d)<-T(d) operator in event programming, even
after reading the description. Can you give a short example of how this is
used?

Also, what I'm really driving at is having an event delete the first line of
a text file, but leaving remaining lines as is. Is anyone doing something
like this in ECS? Can you post a short example?
