Mark, Todds problem is basically the same one I have with my Leviton 6381's.(below) I personally don't care if ECS can do status requests to find the lights actual dim level. These switches support direct dimming to a specfic level. If you want a light to be 7% just send that code and the light goes directly to 7% regardless of it's previous state. I tried the "Model 0" fix in the autoexec for the TC problem with no luck. 3.4win still turns lights of all types On and Off but no dimming. 4.0win still has no x-10 functions with the TC. I looked at the window icon on my PC and the grass is quite green. Of course the grass is always greener on the other side.(sorry) Does the current download for 4.0 have any changes I should try? later, Carl > ---------------------------------------------------------------- > > Subject: Leviton!! > Date: Fri, 12 Mar 1999 21:45:26 -0500 > From: "Todd A. Todds problem is basically the same one I have with my Leviton
6381's.(below)
I personally don't care if ECS can do status requests to find
the lights actual dim level. These switches support direct
dimming to a specfic level. If you want a light to be 7%
just send that code and the light goes directly to 7% regardless
of it's previous state.
I tried the "Model 0" fix in the autoexec for the TC problem
with no luck. 3.4win still turns lights of all types On and Off
but no dimming.
4.0win still has no x-10 functions with the TC.
I looked at the window icon on my PC and the grass is quite green.
Of course the grass is always greener on the other side.(sorry)
Does the current download for 4.0 have any changes I should try?

I installed ECS and tried it out. Very nice! Very rich in logicals! However I noticed one problem that you might want to work around. I have two brands of X-10 light switches installed in my home: X-10 brand (no local dimming) and Leviton Brand. The Leviton units are of the decora variety and employ local control, soft start and start at last setting. I created an item (light) in ECS and attempted to control one of the Leviton units. It appears that ECS is not able to properly control the Leviton unit. I can turn the unit on and off but cannot properly control the brighness. ECS was able to properly control an X-10 brand light switch that has standard hard start. You may be interested to know that the Activehome software has pull-down dialog items for Leviton specific switches. The Activehome software is able to control my Leviton products properly. If this could be solved I would be sold. However, with 25 of these Leviton units installed I cannot justify replacing them. Do you have a solution?? If you like you can call me at (734) 676-5967 and I can be more detailed. Regards, Todd A. Theisen
