Mark,

The extended Code and Data commands don't have unit addressing in
them - they "broadcast" to a house code. I beleive that you first send a
unit select command then send the extended code command.

A person to check with is Craig Chadwick - he worked all this out
for HomeVision which supports this pretty easily. If, via the serial
commands, you send a

	,gUU3CLL31

to a HomeVision unit with a V2.6 PROM or later in it, it will send
the necessary codes to the unit UU (00-FF, unit and house as a hex pair)
to set it directly to level LL (00-3F hex).

According to my docs for my Marrick LynX10 unit (which presents a
much "lower level" X10 interface than HV), the extended code command only
takes a house code, no unit code. Based on that and the way other X10
commands that take only house codes work, I'd suspect a raw X10 Unit
Select followed by the Extended Code is probably what is being expected by
the 6381.

Do you have a Marrick LynX10 unit? It's nice because it pretty
easy to connect to it and watch most everything coming across the
powerline.

Last thing - the LynX10 says that one problem with the extended
code and data commands is that, while the TW523 can send the commands,
because of the format of the data, a TW523 cannot receive the entire
extended data/command. I presume this is similar to the limitation of the
TW523 not being able to accurately track DIM/BRIGHT commands (it catches
every other DIM/BRIGHT when the DIM/BRIGHT button is held down on a
maxi-controller). So using HV or anything else based on the TW523 to
montor the line may be causing some "distortion" as to what you see vs.
what is really on the line.
