OK Dan, It's up to you...no pressure....

I can successfully poll an item for its current state from VB and I
can change it's state from VB, what I can't do is get ECS to send
VB a message when it changes state.

I am initializing like this

Text1.LinkMode = 2
Text1.LinkItem = "S,testdde.exe"   ' Service command set to this program
name
Text1.LinkRequest
Text1.LinkItem = "C,A"         ' Client ID set to 'A'
Text1.LinkRequest
after this last command, ECS reports
 8:57:48: ERROR:DDE_SRV-C (DDE err#400a:No conversation established)

Any ideas????
