Subject: From: Date: | Potential ECS User Lanter SB (Steven) at MSXSOPC Wed, 24 Mar 1999 19:34:09 -0600 |
Hello Folks,
Trying out ECS-Lite and have a few questions (maybe they're answered in the
docs or in these archives but I can't find them).
* Is program Y2K compliant?
* Will it run under Windows NT 4 (server and/or client)?
* I've tried getting it to start and run (under Win95) before the
Win95 logon screen but it won't. I have multiple users with their own
profiles set up. When someone logs off there is not always another one
behind them to log on, so the Win95 logon screen stays up (before items in
the startup folder get executed). I've edited the registry; adding ECS to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\RUN &
RUNSERVICES, but during startup, all that happens is a box pops up (with the
ECS name), then it clears, and the Win95 logon screen appears (without ECS
running).
Enthusiasm (as I see in these archives) for this product is great!! Pretty
cool that Mark gets this kind of support. Apparently because he gives it
(support, that is) for his product. Also saw on the net somewhere a few
months ago about this being a DOS program (and just the past few days saw
all the dialog between y'all in the archives about it). Actually still have
a copy of that page (saved it since I've been looking for HA software and it
was kind of a review of different software products). Maybe reading that
page was what led me to check out ECS in the first place.
Steve
