Gracious/knowledgable customers:
I REALLY need some help here:
1) I installed a new Supra modem.
2) Win detected the "new device", but I killed the
auto-install, as I did not THINK that I had the
driver CD.
3) I found the driver CD.
4) I created a serial port device (COM4) for the modem.
5) Reboot.
6) I created the modem device and installed via the
driver CD (NO problems reported).
7) Reboot.
8) When ECS attempts to access COM4, it reports:
"A device attached to the system is not functioning".
9) When I pull up the modem in the SYSTEM/DEVICE MANAGER,
Win reports "CANNOT READ PORT NAME FROM REGISTERY".
Then it displays the properties as if all is well.
It shows that the device is "operational".
I have removed one or both devices (via Win) and rebooted.
I have ran ScanDisk.
I have pulled the modem, rebooted, re-inserted the modem,
and re-booted - but Win WILL NOT again display the "new
hardware detected" stuff at boot up.
ANY IDEAS ????
"PLUG AND PLAY" MY A. - I WANT JUMPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
