I tried for several days, but the only solution was to get quit using the SBLive card for ECS. I really wanted to use it, since its output is so much cleaner... but whatever Creative did to that card just doesn't seem to work with the MS Speech API. My final solution was actually to run my machine with both the AWE64 and the Live card, with the AWE being the primary card, and the Live only used by Winamp. You can configure the regular Soundblaster card to be the preferred device in the Multimedia control panel. mikehughes wrote: > Yes, thats the problem I'm having. I downloaded the right speech kit and installed it and everything. I do not get any errors when it loads either. Occassionally it will speak the message "ECS at your Service", but usually not. When I'm on a "Text" Item, and try to get ECS to say it, the little box with the play and stop buttons comes on for a second and then disappears. I usually get No sound or usually just a blurb. The little parrot program that came with the Sound Blaster Live card seems to work though. > > ---------- > From: Ingo Dean[SMTP:ingo_dean@mentorg.com] > Sent: Monday, March 29, 1999 12:34 PM > To: ecs-list@netbloc.com > Subject: Re: [ECS] [Fwd: Windows Version of ECS] > > This sounds like the problem I was having: > > Make sure that you download the proper version of the MS Speech kit. I was using the 3.0 version, and it just didn't work after I upgraded to ECS 4.0 (Windows). Follow the instructions in the manual to the letter to make sure you download the right version. I am unable to get a voice response from ECS when I issue VR commands, but the command is carried out. When ECS loads sometimes it says "ECS at your Service" and sometimes it doesn't. Any idea what I might be doing wrong. > > > > Mike > > > > ________________________________________________________ > > NetZero - We believe in a FREE Internet.
