Subject: From: Date: | Com port problem Gianino, Glenn Thu, 1 Apr 1999 08:54:50 -0500 |
Mark, just wanted to let you know I'm still working on that problem with the
com port.
The message was --- 5:40am PLC-INTERFACE-2H transmit twol on COM1
("outside lights" line 10)
I have isolated the problem to the CM11A.
The com port on the PC is working just fine, but somehow the CM11A just
stops talking to ECS. In fact, something else is amiss here. I also use the
RR501 wireless xcvrs and they also get 'locked up' somehow. The manual
on/off button does nothing when pressed, and no X-10 commands get through.
Powering off the PC was curing a symptom, not the problem. If I take the
CM11A and plug it in the wall, then plug the RR501 into it, then use the
wireless PLC keypad to turn on A1, and off. Then ECS starts talking to the
CM11a and the RR unit starts working again also.
I ordered a new CM11a and it arrives today. I think I'm tired of toys. Maybe
its time to move to a more reliable method of X-10 transmission, like
HomeVision or something.
I know this isn't your issue, but I wanted to let you know my progress.
I posted this to the list in case there is another soul having the same
problem.
