Subject: From: Date: | ECS/NT issues Michael David Wed, 14 Apr 1999 21:42:56 -0400 |
Hi Mark, and everyone else too!
I know it's been a while since I checked in: a very busy workload, an
extremely energetic 22 month old, and the wife in her 32nd week of pregnancy
has kept me quite busy!
Do you know of anyone else running ECS under NT? I am, and am having a few
anomalies. I'm hoping that you, or someone else here in the list might have
some ideas on how to get around them.
First, some specifics.
Computer:
IBM Server 325, 128M RAM, Dual PII 333Mhz
Installed Boards:
Digi Classicboard 8 with the v.201 NT 4.0 driver
Aureal A3D Vortex 1 sound card with v1.16 NT4.0 driver Zoom VFP14/4V modem
with the standard NT driver
OS/Software:
NT4.0, SP4, SMP (symmetric multi-processing) kernel
Microsoft SAPI 4.0a SDK.
ECS 4.0.025 (the one with the NT font fix - thanks Mark!)
I did install the Spchapi.exe that comes with ECS
What I am seeing:
Anomaly #1:
While trying to start VR, I get an error dialog box that says:
Main_Dialog_Proc
Win95 err#12: There are no more files
Needless to say, VR doesn't install.
Anomaly #2:
After starting ECS, TTS will work fine. Then for some reason, after about a
day, TTS will stop working, and I get these errors:
ERROR:TXT2_SPCH2:tmo {event name/line number}
Restarting ECS at this point does not solve the problem; I have to reboot
the computer to get ECS to speak again.
I have verified that no other program is trying to use the sound card, not
even the OS. However, when ECS is not able to use the card, I can play a
.WAV file through the card with no problems by using the Windows Media
Player.
Anomaly #3:
Now that I am on NT, the ECS console window does not automatically close
when quitting ECS.
Other than that, ECS seems to run OK!
Mark, let me know if I can provide any more info to help troubleshoot.
Cheers!
Michael David
