Some creative modems (Internal) have a interconnection cable to an
appropriate creative labs soundcard, meaning that what you play on the
soundcard can be routed into the phoneline and vice versa. I understand
that this is how HAL2000 etc get there telephony features.
Im not too sure on the level of conversion of sample rates and coding
that TAPI will do for you. There is a lot of good information at
http://www.dialogic.com/ on how tapi operates and what windows media
codecs will and will not do for you. It is aimed at the profesional
telephony cards tho.
