A company called Black box makes a device that allows such however the only
thing that I have used it for is to allow a console and a monitoring
computer to both receive console errors. You could type to the port from
either the console or the monitoring computer.

You can do it but it is not as simple as connecting them together. I
have built such a device for some LCD displays that I use with ECS The
displays display messages from ECS and a small keypad on the display
unit sends ASCII back to ECS. The limitations are that ALL displays
recieve the same data which is essentially is logical "OR ing" the
outputs and only one keypad can be used at a time(Transmit data) once
again logical "OR ing" the inputs. I have it set up for 8 serial devices
into one serial port. I have not had any problem with it. Let me know if
you want the drawing.

Thanks
Joe Rut
