Subject: From: Date: | COOL IDEA: Modular HA Kevin Keast Tue, 04 May 1999 10:31:04 -0700 |
Hi All,
I discovered a couple cool HA ideas for your wiring closet I wanted to share:
Go to Home Depot:
Go to the section that has all the closet maid shelving:
Pick up a couple of 12X24 inch white/brown/black shelves: These are covered in like
a viynl type covering and are made of hard sturdy partical board. Plus they are very
cheap.
Use these to mount your HA components to, then mount them to your wall.
For example, I have My computer network and IR network on one 12X24 inch board. Now
it is modular so If I want to work on part of the "EDGARNET" (Electronic Data Gathering
and Automation Resource) I just pull down the Network board.
I have boards for Video, HV and digitial I/Os (relays)
Works great and looks neat too.
Extra tip: I also bought a bag of 100 sticky plastic mounts (these are about 1"X1"
and have loop holes for running zip ties). I use these with zip ties to mount things
I don't want to drill into or things that don't have mounting holes - Like my HomeVision
for example
Anyway, just a HA tip I thought I would share.
